The Details on Port Arthur LNG

The proposed Port Arthur LNG project continues a legacy of making the US Gulf Coast into a climate sacrifice zone, threatening the lives of Black and Brown community members in the area. Frontline leaders on the Gulf Coast have called out financial institutions like RBC for funding climate devastation in the region. RBC finances 7 fracked gas export terminals on the Gulf Coast, in addition to other oil and gas projects in the region.
The impacts of environmental degradation and fossil fuels in the region have included chronic toxic air and water pollution, increased severity of hurricanes and other climate disasters, and continuous threats to the health and safety of community members, in particular risking the wellbeing of Black communities that live near extractive projects like Port Arthur LNG
